The Community Media Organizing Project began as a member-driven initiative of the Southern Organizing Coop. In 2004 CMOP became an independent alliance, whose mission is to advance the use of media to support and improve the art of community organizing in the South and aid the building of a movement for social change in the region. CMOP brings together grassroots organizations in a spirit of cooperation to work collaboratively for institutional change.
